Isla Del Leyendas: Part16.2

“So what’re you thinking?”

“I’m thinking that my head hurts, and that I need a headache tablet.”

“Don’t you have any?” Ash shook his head. “Don’t worry, I’m sure it’ll go away when you’ve had a rest.”

“Iason?”

“Yes Ash?”

“How much longer do you think Greg and Rex’ll go without killing each other?”

“Why do you think I’ve put them in separate pairs?”

Ash laughed quietly, “I noticed that, I also noticed, that you paired yourself with me…” Ash sighed, “I’ve also noticed that the others are avoiding me, bar you and Rex, and Greg hates my guts, I didn’t ask for this gift, I didn’t even know I had it, now the others are treating me like a three headed space Pokemon… Any idea if there is a three headed space Pokemon?”

Iason snorted, “Not a clue.” He had no idea how to address the rest of Ash’s statement. Ash heard beeping, and opened his eyes, Iason was checking his Pokedex, “It’s not in my Pokedex.” Iason said, turning to him.

Ash smiled faintly, “Well it’s not in mine either, maybe in the next update…” Ash sighed, “It’s not like what Lugia has given me is that great a gift, I could have managed without it, Mew liked me without it.” Ash continued, still smiling slightly as he leant back again.

“I don’t think it’s the gift. More likely it’s that you’ve met so many of the legendaries.”

“Well, it isn’t my fault. I was just on my journey.” Ash sighed again, his eyes closing, “I shouldn’t have said anything then.”

“Who else would have believed you? They are called legendaries for a reason you know.”

“Any way,” Ash yawned, “Just because Lugia marked me as a friend, doesn’t mean the others trust his judgment.”

Iason laughed softly, “I wouldn’t disagree with him…” Iason looked over and smiled and shook his head, “And you’ve fallen asleep.”

Ash shook his head, “No I haven’t.”

“You were falling asleep.”

“No, I wasn’t.” Ash protested, and stifled a second yawn. He opened his eyes and looked at Iason, “What’s the time?”

“About one.”

“Another hour and a half?” Ash complained.

“What? Sleepy?” Iason asked, winding Ash up, “Why’d you take the first shift?”

“Because there is no possible way anyone could wake me up if I went to sleep.” Ash answered, for once not rising to the bait, “Anyone who’s travelled with me could tell you, that I sleep like the… that I can sleep through an Earthquake.”

“Have you?”

“I refuse to answer that on grounds of self incrimination.” Ash laughed.

“That’s a yes then.” Ash ignored him, “Okay then, tell me about your friends, why are you travelling alone at the moment.”

“Why?”

“Because if you’re talking, you’re not sleeping.”

Ash laughed, “Don’t say that to Misty, according to her, I could sleep my way through a day, and barely anyone would notice.”

“So Misty, is she the one whose bike you wreaked.”

“Yeah, Pikachu fried her bike and she ended up travelling with me for about three years, until her sisters went on a world cruise and put Misty in charge of the Cerulean City Gym, then she had to go home. Misty is one of the best water Pokemon trainers I have ever seen, she has a Gyarados and she once won a match while using a wild Golduck, and no one realised it wasn't her Psyduck evolved since it followed her commands so well. I do wish that she hadn’t decided to stay after her sisters had gotten back though, but she runs the Gym much more successfully then her sisters ever have.”

“So she likes water Pokemon a lot, but surely she can’t like all of them. I mean most girls hate the look of Tenticool. Actually most guys do too.”

“Are you kidding? Misty things Tenticool are cute! Can you believe it? She hates bug types, but show her Surskit and she wants it with every molecule of her soul.”

Iason laughed, “Wow, she really does love water Pokemon.”

“The Cerulean City Gym is a water Pokemon Gym, so she grew up around them.” Ash said with a grin, “She loves Water Pokemon so much, she had battles with me over who would capture some of them.”

“And I bet that drives the Pokemon in contest away.”

“Not always.” Ash laughed. “But I think we ended up scaring away a lot of wild Pokemon before we were done. Pikachu wouldn’t fight Misty because we were friends, so the matches were always intense. I hate to think how she’d’ve reacted to Brock getting a Mudkip and a Lotad, Misty would’ve been completely jealous.”

“Brock? The cook?”

“Brock was a Pokemon Gym Leader, but he joined me on my journey, and now he’s studying to be a Pokemon Breeder. But he has a lot of little brothers, and for quite a long time he was their carer, right up until his dad came back about the same time I got to Pewter City, so he knew how to take care of people and took it on himself to look after me and Misty, and then later on May and Max.”

“Who’re they?”

“May and Max are the children of a Gym Leader in Hoenn. May was just starting her Pokemon Journey when I got there and Pikachu fried her bike too, so I travelled with her and Max joined us in Petalburg. May started off being afraid of Pokemon, but as we travelled she came to love Pokemon, starting with her Torchic, and she went from thinking about being a Pokemon Trainer, to being a top rated Pokemon Contest Coordinator.”

“What about Max?”

“He wasn’t old enough to have his own Pokemon when we were travelling around Hoenn, but wet met a Ralts that he promised to go back for when he was old enough… I wonder if he’s gotten his first Pokemon yet… he’d be old enough now.”

“Haven’t you called them since his Birthday?”

“How? They keep moving around like I do. Sent them a few letters, but I haven’t heard from them in a month of so.”

“I suppose it would be difficult to keep track of them.”

Ash nodded, “One of these days I’ll get round to buying a Pokegear, and then it won’t be such a problem ‘cause at least I’ll have a steady contact number even if they’re on the move.”

“Why haven’t you before? Pretty much everyone has one, there’s no signal down here though, I’ve checked.”

“Either lack of money, or… no… just lack of money.” Iason had to hold his hand over his mouth to muffle his laughter. “I will get one, just I’m going to have to wait until I can afford it without going hungry for a while.”

“I think you’ll need to go hungry for a while before you get one. I’ve seen how you eat.”

“It’s not my fault the buffet table was all you can eat.”

“It’s all a normal person can eat!”

“I am normal.”

“Ash after today, I’m pretty sure none of us here are what I would call ‘normal’ and you eat as much as a Snorlax.”

“Do not! And I should know!”

“Don’t tell me you have one.”

“Alright I won’t tell you.”

“So what Pokemon do you have then? Most of your team can’t have been with you as long as Pikachu.”

“All of the Pokemon with me, bar Pikachu, have only been with me two years, since I went to Hoenn. I started with Pikachu, then I caught a Caterpie, which eventually evolved into a Butterfree, which I let go so it could go with a Pink Butterfree it fell in love with. My second ever capture was a Pidgeotto, which became a Pidgeot, and I released it because it wanted to protect a flock of wild Pidgey and Pidgeotto from a Fearow and it’s flock of Spearow. Then it was… Bulbasaur, who is back at Professor Oak’s lab, then Squirtle joined my team, but he went back to his home and led the Squirtle Squad again…”

“Squirtle Squad?”

“They were a band of abandoned Squirtle who caused trouble, but in the end their leader came with me for a while, and the team became the local fire-fighters. I can still call on Squirtle to be transported to me if I need his help though.”

“What other Pokemon have you had?”

“There was Charmander next… he’s a Charizard now, he’s in the Charisific Valley, training. Then there was Kingler… Well he was a Krabby at the time, and he lives at Oak’s Lab, with all my Tauros, then I had a Lapras for a while, but I let it go back to it’s family, when we found them again, but Lapras helped me get around the Orange Islands.

Then I went to Johto, and my first capture was a Heracross, who’s at Oak’s Labs, along with my Bayleaf that I caught as a Chikorita, my Cyndaquil, my Totodile, my Corphish, my Noctowl, my Snorlax and my Muk.

I had a Beedrill for all of about a day before I gave it to a Trainer friend of mine, my Primape won the P3 tournament and I left it with a Trainer who I knew would raise him well and I befriended a Haunter which now lives with Sabrina, the Psychic gym Leader.

And now I have Sceptile, Swellow, Donphan, Galie, Torkoal with me, I caught them in the Hoenn Region.”

“All your Tauros?”

“I ended up catching something like thirty cause that was all I could find, everything else was in hiding.”

Ash looked over as Greg stirred, and Iason looked at his watch. “Would you believe that it’s been two hours already?”

Pikachu was alert instantly as Greg walked past and shook Juni awake. He rushed over to Ash’s side and once Juni and Greg had taken their places, Ash and Pikachu curled up by Arceus’s left front paw. “Night Ash.” Iason called, as Ash yawned.

Ash yawned before he replied with a “Night, Iason.”

Ash closed his eyes, using his bag as a cushion, and let himself drift off, feeling calmer then he had all day.
