Isla Del Leyendas: Part 14

“That was a strange one. More so than usual I mean. Have you ever heard of Mewtwo?” Various heads were shaken. “I don’t know if I should…”

“Please.” Danielle and the female triplets pleaded.

“Ok, but this doesn’t leave the Temple, Some scientist was trying to clone pokemon, and managed to clone Mew. Hence Mewtwo. Mewtwo decided that all humans were terrible and he wanted to remake the world in his image... almost succeeded... I'm not sure what convinced him to stop... I just remember getting in the way of Mew and Mewtwo while they tried to destroy each other...”

“Pika…” Pikachu said sadly.

Ash paled, “When I came to, Mewtwo had stopped fighting. They had all stopped fighting. Then they went away and made me forget… until I found the clones later on. I guess saving Mewtwo twice convinced him of my character of something.”

“So you’ve met all the birds, Latias, and Latios and Mew and this… Mewtwo. What about the others?”

“You mean the Dogs?” Ash asked, when he received a nod, he continued, “Well I saw Raikou when I was chasing a Pokemon that had escaped from the Pokemon Centre, during a Thunder and Lightening Storm, then I met Suicune and Celebi at the same time, when some poacher managed to capture Celebi and I had Suicune’s help in freeing it but before that meeting Celebi was an interesting encounter. It plays with time. That was utterly confusing. I met someone from the past... I hope I see him again some day. Sam was... Sam was a good friend, a good person.”

“Not the Sam we know, surely?”

“No, but he reminds me a lot of him, the Sam I’m thinking of came from about fifty years ago. Wait, no I met Suicune before that, I saw it when I first came into Johto.”

“What about Entai?” Greg asked.

“Well I’ve seen both a real Entai and a dream Entai, created by Unknown for a little girl named Molly. That was the only time I’ve ever met the Unknown, in trying to make Molly happy, they nearly destroyed a large part of my world.”

“Your world?” Iason questioned, it was odd phrasing.

“They kidnapped my mum. Then when I tried to get her back, I could easily have lost her and my friends, I don’t regret how I acted… but it was reckless, and I didn’t think… and I hope I never have to watch as Unknown lose control again.”

“You’ve seen all of them? Wait no, there’s other aren’t there?”

The Triplets smiled at this, “You’ve forgotten the Regi’s, Registeel, Regirock and Regice.”

“And Kyogre and Groudon.”

“And Rayquaza.”

“Well…” Ash started.

“Have you seen them all?”

“I think so, all of them in the Kanto, Orange Islands, Johto and Hoenn Regions at least.” He shrugged, “There might be others out there but all of the ones here, I’ve seen, but they didn’t choose me.”

Kayla could see why Lugia had afforded Ash such a powerful gift though.

"How can you be so..." Greg waved his hand, at a complete lost at how to explain, he failed "Barely anyone ever sees the legendaries, and you've seen so many..."

Ash's smile deepened, "Are you kidding? It's amazing seeing any of them. It's just..." His eyes became unfocused, "They may be legends, but I've seen them in trouble, massive messes that I had to fix, and most of them don't say thanks, they just go on... I’ve lost count of the amount of times I’ve nearly died saving the Legendaries.” Pikachu winced, something Ash missed but Raven didn’t.

“Chu.” Pikachu put in. Ash met his Pokemon’s eyes.

“No I didn’t.”

“Wait a second, I think I understood that. But that would mean…”

“I did not die.” Ash turned to face Raven.

“Ka Chu!” Pikachu put in forcefully.

“Pikachu says you did die…” Raven repeated the message, “But how? And why? You can’t be for real.”

Ash closed his eyes, silence descended upon the group. "Mew and Mewtwo were fighting, they were going to destroy each other. I couldn't... I couldn't let it go on. I had to stop them... and I did. That is all that matters."

“Pika.”

“I agree with Pikachu, it was stupid idea, and you’re not to do that ever again. Who in their right mind, would put themselves in the middle of a Battlefield?”

Ash looked around the room, eyes meeting his unflinching. "I have before; I will again, if it is the only way I can stop something wrong... I will."

Pikachu sighed.

"I'm sorry but there are times where there are no other options. If I can take Mewtwo and Mew both blasting me at the same time," Pikachu snorted, "Then I can survive just about anything. Built up resistance with all the times Pikachu shocked me."

“Ash…” Kayla murmured, then fell as she tried to take a step that wasn’t there, they had reached the bottom of the stairs and looked down the corridor.

Iason laughed, “No wonder Pikachu didn’t hesitate much when told to Thunderbolt you.”

Ash just laughed. “You’d be surprised at the amount of times I’ve had to deal with being shocked to sort out Team Rocket problems and things.”

“After what you’ve just told us, probably not.”

“Hey, five years of adventures, what do you expect?”

"Oh I don't know, travel from town to town, earn some badges, compete in some leagues, earn some respect, and have a ton of fun?"

“And don’t forget the chocolate!”

“I would rather not mention cooking…”

“Is cooking a skill outside a Trainer’s ability?”

“Well I found that Watchers and Breeders are far better at cooking than Trainers. Always invite them to join your adventures.” Ash said wisely.

“How did you survive until you made Travelling Buddies?”

“I ran all the way from Pallet Town to the next town, while being chased by Spearows and one very angry girl.”

“Pi pika chu!”

“Excuse me, I believe you electrocuted her bike, not me.”

“Pika…”

“Ok, it was my fault about the Spearow, but you could’ve been a little more helpful.”

“Chu.”

“So throwing a stone at the Spearow wasn’t a good idea, how was I supposed to know that?”

“How did you ever get this far?” Juni asked in amazement.

“Well for starters, Pikachu actually helps now if I want to catch a Pokemon. And Misty wasn’t that bad once you got to know her, pretty decent water Pokemon Trainer. Wish she was here… but she has her own Gym now.”

“But how? I mean that was a really bad start…”

“It can’t be the worst… It really can’t be the worst…”

“Hey my journey was easy compared, pick up my starter, caught a few Pokemon on the way, had enough food, and didn’t get chased.”

Ash decided to study the ceiling, muttering, “It can’t have been the worst, it can’t have been.”

“No, I suppose you could’ve been late picking up your starter.” Brendan put in.

“Ummm.”

“Or your mum didn’t try to embarrass you as soon as you called in…”

“Ummm.”

“And it wasn’t like you lost anything on the way…”

Ash groaned, “Ok, maybe I did get off to a really bad start. But I only lost my self respect and most of my food.”

“That didn’t all happen to you… did it?”

“The only thing that didn’t happen was a thunder storm… oh wait, that happened as well, we got drenched.”

“Well you didn’t fall into a pit fall trap.”

“Not until I got to the next town.”

“There was a pit trap in the next town.”

“Yes…”

“Well at least you didn’t cause a power failure…”

Ash groaned again.

Kayla started to laugh, “You really did have an awful start didn’t you?”

“Hey at least you didn’t try Pikachu against a Ground type.”

“No, that waited until I tried for my first Gym Badge.”

“Wait a sec, Pikachu against what?”

“Onix… lost the first time, won the second.”

“You won against Onix… with a Pikachu?”

“Well… I had a bit of help… and then we accidentally set the sprinklers off… and his siblings tried to stop me from finishing the match… but yeah, Pikachu beat Onix.”

Kayla laughed harder, “Nothing went right for you, did it?”

“Well I got a travelling buddy who was a very good cook. A very, very good cook, he was the one who saved us after me and my friends forgot to bring anything but Pokemon food.”

“Let me guess… you fell over him while completely lost.”

“How did you know?”

“…I was kidding…”

“Oh…”

Almost everyone cracked up and once they’d calmed down Iason turned to the group as a whole, “Right, before we wreak Ash’s pride completely, we’d better work out where we’re going from here.”

“Too late,” Kayla managed to gasp between giggles, as Ash had gone bright red.

“But I’m a good Trainer… just not that good at staying out of trouble…”
