Isla Del Leyendas: Part 6

Kayla wandered along the passageway, her Typhlosion's flames lighting the path and her Donphan walking along side her, she’d returned Vaporion to it’s Pokeball. She felt like she’d been walking for hours, the passageway never changed, it seemed endless. She knew it couldn’t have been more then five, ten minutes maximum though; she carefully walked down the stairs, having no great urge to repeat the earlier fall, that had hurt.

She looked left and right, then a flash of light caught her eye and she and her Pokemon ran for it, “Voltorb! Self Destruct!”

“What the hell?” Kayla gasped, as the Voltorb exploded, knocking out a wild Baltoy, but causing part of the roof to collapse. The Trainer had to return his Pokemon quickly to avoid it getting squashed. “Brendan! What the hell where you thinking?”

“I was thinking I’m fed up of getting attacked by wild Pokemon in an area where I don’t know where the hell I am.” The teen answered with a growl.

“What if the roof had collapsed on you?” Kayla demanded, then she remembered why she’d wanted Brendan in the first place. “You have to come back with me! Ash needs help from your Chansey!”

“Is he badly hurt?”

“His leg’s injured, I’m surprised…” Kayla cut off as there was a rumble and the roof behind her gave way, blocking off her way back. “Damn it, Donphan can you break through this without causing another collapse?”

Donphan sniffed and shook its head.

“Damn it, damn it, damn it, damn it.”

“Shall we see what’s this way then? Maybe we can reach Ash this way.” Brendan asked, and Kayla nodded, “Ash is a fighter, he’ll be fine till we reach him.”

“Yeah, I’m sure you’re right.”

Ash leant against the wall, his eyes closed.

“Pika! Pikapi Pikachu!” Ash opened his eyes, his Pikachu was looking at him, concerned, and was pointing back in the direction they’d come.

“I’m fine, Pikachu.” Ash replied, standing upright, and hiding his wince from his Pokemon. “Come on, let’s keep going.”

They walked along the passage way, Ash keeping one hand on the wall as he did so, Pikachu and Donphan stayed close, Ash kept going, he was fine, he needed to help find the others more then he needed to rest right now, what if someone else was hurt worse then he was?

There was a rumble, and part of the passageway behind him collapsed, Ash wondered what was going on, on the lower floors, that rumble had sounded like an explosion, but surely no Trainer was stupid enough to have their Pokemon use Explosion or Self Destruct in such an unstable place. He kept going, even as a second rumble took out more of the path behind him. Going backwards was a small option now, as there wasn’t much of the path left.

Ash kept going, his torch still going strong, though he didn’t know how much life was left in the batteries. He turned a corner, and was confronted by a Gengar. It threw a Shadow Ball at him.

Ash jumped backwards narrowly avoiding the attack, and Pikachu ran in front of him. “Pika Pikachu!” The electric mouse shouted at it. It just laughed at him, “Pika, Pikachu, Pikapi!” Again the Gengar laughed, “PIKACHUUUUUUUUUUUUU!” Pikachu zapped the Gengar with a blast of lightening and the ghost Pokemon fled. Pikachu wheeled around, concerned for his trainer.

The teen was sat on the ground, his face scrunched up with pain, his hands grasping his trousers tightly. “Pikapi?”

“I… I’m ok.” Ash stammered, as he forced himself to get to his feet.

“Pika! Pikachu!”

“We can’t go back easily, look.” Ash pointed to the rubble created when the Gengar’s attack had hit the wall.

“Pikachu!” Pikachu growled at him.

“No, Pikachu, we’ll keep goi…” Ash cried out involuntarily as he tried to take a step forward, and sat back down.

“Pikapi! Pikachu pikapika!”

“Anyone there?” A voice called from the darkness.

“Are you sure you heard someone?”

“I heard someone, now come on.” Greg, Darius and Faith came into the range of Ash’s torch. “Told you.”

“Ash?” Faith asked, Ash nodded, “You alright?” Ash shook his head, already biting his tongue to keep from anymore pained sounds coming from him and worrying Pikachu any further.

“Your leg?” Faith asked, Ash nodded. She put her hands on it, and Ash screamed.

Then everything went black.

And mercifully painless.
