Ash groaned and opened
his eyes.
He hated falling,
hated, hated, hated.
He looked around, his
torch had fallen out of his backpack, and was providing the only source of
light, Pikachu was already awake, he’d shaken his Trainer back to
consciousness, and it looked like Vaporion was trying to do the same for hers.
Kayla groaned, opening her eyes, then hugging Vaporion before turning to Ash.
“Where are we?”
“I think the floor gave
way.” Ash replied, “Other then that, I have no idea.” He got to his feet,
crying out and falling back down as pain shot through his leg.
“Ash?”
“I’m fine.” Ash
grunted, getting back to his feet, Pikachu gave him a concerned look, and Kayla
quickly got to her feet and supported him.
“Maybe, but I gotcha just
in case.” Ash smiled gratefully. “Come on, the sooner we find the others, the
sooner Brendan’s Chansey can uses its Softboiled and ease that leg.” Vaporion
nodded in agreement, and walked alongside them, Kayla looked at the torch in
Ash’s hand, then smiled, “I think I got something better.” She said with a
grin, pulling a Pokeball off of her belt, “Come on out! Typhlosion!” The fire
type appeared with a roar, the flames on it lighting the way much more
effectively then the torch. “Typhlosion, can you help us get out of here?” The
Pokemon roared again and led the way. Ash turned off his torch to save the
batteries.
“I’d suggest that we
use our Donphans to try to reach the surface, but you’d never be able to get to
the top with your leg, and I don’t particularly wish for a ton of dirt to come
down on us if it’s still unstable.” Kayla sighed.
“We were all in the
same area when the floor fell in, the others have to be around here somewhere,”
Ash said, “Brendan was stood next to that Raikou statue, that wasn’t more then
a couple of meters away.”
“In theory he should be
on the other side of that wall then.”
“No Donphans down
here.” Ash reminded her. Kayla pouted then laughed.
“Typhlosion Ty!” Kayla
looked at her Pokemon, there was a fork in the road.
“Left or right?” Ash
asked Kayla, she frowned, there was no way of telling which was the right way.
“Ummm,” Kayla reached
into her pocket and pulled out a Pokedollar, “Head’s right, Tails left?” Ash
nodded in agreement, and Kayla flipped the coin. It handed on heads. “Right it
is then.” They headed down the right passage way, following Typhlosion, Kayla
tripped over a rock, and with Ash’s bodyweight combined with hers, she couldn’t
prevent them falling down the stairs, landing in a heap at the bottom. Vaporion
leapt off gracefully, having landed at the top of the pile.
“Typhlosion!” Her
Pokemon roared as Kayla scrambled off of it.
“Ash? Pikachu?”
“Ow.” Ash grumbled.
“Pika!” Pikachu
grumbled, sounding remarkably like his trainer.
Someone giggled, and
Ash and Kayla jumped a mile as a Haunter appeared out of no where. “I don’t
think down is the right way guys.”
Kayla looked over, and
at the edge of their circle of light, stood Danielle, one of the youngest
trainers aboard the CS Legacy. The Haunter glided back to its trainer, as Ash
leant on Typhlosion to help him get to his feet. “We fell down, so I’d’ve
thought that up was the right way to go.”
“Oh shush, Danni.”
Kayla sighed, “We should’ve gone left, hey Ash?”
Ash nodded, his face
pale.
“You alright?”
“Fine, just my leg
playing up.”
Danielle thought for a
moment, and then pulled a Pokeball out of her bag, “Kadabra! Come out!” The
fourteen year old whispered to her Psychic Pokemon for a while, then turned to
Ash and Kayla, a grin on her face. “Kadabra thinks he can ease your leg, he
says he can’t heal it, but he can help.”
“How do you talk to
Kadabra?” Kayla asked, as Ash nodded, and a white aura surrounded him.
“I speak normally, and
he talks in my head.” Danielle said simply, “You don’t own a Psychic type, you
wouldn’t understand.” The glow died and Ash looked a lot happier, moving away
from Typhlosion, and testing his leg. Danielle looked from Ash to her Kadabra,
then gave it an odd look, and turned back to Ash, “Kadabra says he restored
your hit points, but says you shouldn’t use that leg more then you have too.”
“I’ll rest when we get
out of here.” Ash said, with a frown, “Shall we head back up the stairs?” The
two girls nodded and the fire type Pokemon led the way, then Ash, Pikachu and
Kadabra, then Danielle and Haunter, and finally Kayla and Vaporion.
Once they reached the
top they headed down the left passage way. It led into a huge room, one that
also had the statues of the legendary Pokemon, only three of these were lit up
though.
“Raikou, Entai and
Suicune,” Kayla commented, then smiled as Ho-oh, Lugia and Mew’s eyes lit up,
“Ok, I think it’s pretty safe to assume that Ho-oh responds to me, and Lugia to
you Ash, Danni, have you seen Mew?”
“Seven or eight times,
one lives in the forest by my home town, I helped it out just before I left,
and Mew wanted to come with me, but it was safer in the forest.”
“So the Mew statues are
responding to you.”
“Didn’t Brendon say
something about meeting Raikou?” Ash asked, sitting against the wall. Kayla nodded,
“Who were the other two who’d assisted the Legendary Dogs?”
“Ummm,” Danielle
thought, “Kat was one of them.”
“Katherine had assisted
Suicune, who was it that assisted Entai?”
“George… no Greg.” Ash
said, “It was defiantly Greg, ‘cause I remember him saying that he met Entai
before he left on his journey and that was why he focused on Fire Types.”
“Oh yeah,” Danielle
giggled, “That was just before you beat him with your Donphan.” She said to Ash
who smiled, “In your seventh match.” Danielle smiled, “Mind you, you two seem
to have dominated the Battle Lounge since we left Cinnabar Island.”
“We can’t have been
that long, that was two weeks ago.” Ash said, thinking.
“And I bet if Iason
chose to battle he’d beat me, I’ve never fought a Dragonite before.” Kayla
said, thinking also.
“I have.” Ash said,
getting to his feet. “The Leader of the Orange Crew has one, it took everything
my team had to beat it. That was about two, three years ago.” He looked at the
doors that led away from the chamber they were stood in, “Shame we can’t
guarantee which way the others went.”
“Why? Bored of our
company?” Kayla teased. Ash just poked his tongue out at her.
“I was thinking that
it’s not a good idea for us to spilt up to go looking for them, or the exit, if
we get lost there’s no guarantee we’d find our way back here.”
“Haunter, could you
show me the way back?” Danielle asked her Pokemon. The Ghost Type bobbed up and
down, “I could go look.”
Kayla thought for a
second, then sent out her Donphan, “Can you help me find my way back, and help
me make sure I don’t enter anywhere unstable?” The Donphan nodded.
Ash thought for a
second, then smiled, “Donphan!” His Donphan appeared, “I need your help, could
you help me find my way back?” Donphan nodded. “Ok, spilt up and meet back
here?”
The two girls nodded.
Kayla looked at Ash, concerned. “If your leg starts playing up, head straight
back here, there’s no guarantee we’ll be able to find you if you can’t get
back.” Ash frowned, but nodded.
“Lets go.” The three
trainers headed off in different directions, heading through one of the three
archways that they hadn’t yet been through.
