Isla Del Leyendas: Part 13

George wasn’t happy about bringing his sisters into what was potentially a trap. Potentially? No, this was a sucker trap, and they were the suckers. He’d thought Greg had had the right idea, heading back to a place where they knew where they where, instead of heading into darker places, where Ghost Types could jump out at them and George severely doubted anyone really knew their way back. He stifled a yawn, one of his sisters must have been having premonitions last night, ‘cause he hadn’t been able to sleep all night, but he didn’t think that it was one of Juni’s gifts, it had to be Hayley’s fault, and it had driven him mental when he’d wanted to battle Kayla this morning. They hadn’t planned on getting stuck in this temple and now he really wanted out. But the thing he wanted most right now…

His stomach rumbled.

Hayley smiled, checked her watch…

And handed a chocolate bar over to George.

Typical George, no matter how bad the situation got, he always seemed to be hungry at exactly the same time, it was something they’d learnt over the five years of travelling, a hungry George, was not a clever George.

However she had a bone to pick with Juni, since she knew George didn’t get premonitions, and something had been keeping her awake last night, but something else was more important. She dug a cereal bar out of her bag and gave it to Juni.

Hayley loved her siblings, but they never remembered to bring any food with them. Silly really, it was always George who got hungry first, why couldn’t he remember? She checked her bag and started to hand out snacks to the other Trainers.

Ash waved her away, he at least had remembered to bring some food, shame no one else had. Ash smiled slightly, he was proud of himself for remembering. Normally he was terrible, but… he had thought for once. Pikachu was on his shoulder again, he handed up a pear.

“I made the mistake once,” Ash commented, “Of buying all Pokemon food, ‘cause I thought my friends were getting regular food, but they thought I was buying the food and brought Pokemon food, I’ll never do that again.” Hayley chuckled.

“George and Juni would do the same thing without me. I don’t know how they would survive on their own.”

“Hey!” The other two complained at the same time, causing a round of giggles.

“We wouldn’t, we would run out of food, get completely lost, and fall into a pit trap only an hour from the nearest town and have to wait for you to find us,” George continued, “So don’t ever think of going off on your own, or you would have us on your conscious.”

“Speak for yourself George, I’m not the one who can’t cook. Remember the burnt chocolate?”

“How was I supposed to know you aren’t meant to cook chocolate bars while they’re still in their wrappers?”

“Common sense.” His sisters declared at the same moment.

“Which is why I don’t cook, unless we want to poison our guests.”

“Why were you cooking chocolate bars in the first place?” Iason wanted to know.

“I wanted to make the potatoes more interesting…”

“I had to ask.”

“So you not only managed to burn up the last of our chocolate, but you made the baked potatoes revolting. We had to eat carrots.”

“Carrots?”

The triplets nodded sadly, “We didn’t have anything left.”

“Carrots make you see in the dark.” Katherine commented.

“Wait a sec, you still had chocolate left at this point? You managed to save your chocolate for that long?” Kayla looked at them in awe.

“Well…”

“There was a lot of chocolate…”

“And we mean a lot of chocolate…”

“Since we all thought we should buy enough chocolate for all three of us…”

“And you forgot to buy enough real food?” Ash asked, already knowing the answer.

“Chocolate is real food!” The triplets protested. This caused Brendan to laugh and Darius to shake his head, he didn’t care how much they protested, the triplets were defiantly younger trainers, and he was willing to bet almost everyone there had lived on a chocolate diet at some point.

Ash didn’t want to think too much. He would be the first to admit he didn’t like thinking too deeply. The triplets were a welcome distraction from his own thoughts… but soon enough the group had once again sunken into silence.

He wasn't afraid. Not really. How often had he done this sort of thing? The Legendary Pokemon had trusted them, he wasn't about to betray that trust. Maybe he was a bit afraid... after all what did he know of the legendaries? Except meeting some of them... quite a lot of them now he came to think of it.

Mew he had met quite early on, along with the genetically modified Pokemon, Mewtwo, then there were the birds, and the whole ‘world will turn to Ash’ bit.

Had that been when Lugia had bestowed this ‘gift’?

“Ash? I…I think I should know you. Thinking about the Legendaries made me think… was it you who… was it you who saved Articuno, Moltres and Zapdos a few years ago?” Raven asked.

“You heard about that?” Ash started to redden, he’d hoped no one had seen it.

“Was it you? Zapdos…”

“Pika.” Pikachu said in a voice that sounded final.

“Was that a yes or a no?”

“Pikachu!” Ash said, sounding annoyed if anything.

“Was that a yes?” Raven asked, confused.

Ash stared at him, “That was a ‘I was there too you know!’”

“So it was you?”

“Yes… and I didn’t really do much. I mean anyone would’ve done the same thing…”

“But they didn’t, you did.”

“Does anyone else know what they’re talking about?” Hayley interrupted.

“I do.” Rex replied, but otherwise they were shaking their heads.

“I have an idea, why don’t we share all our encounters.” Danielle suggested. There was a general shuffling of feet. "Come on, it might teach us something. I first met Mew before I even became a trainer... she wanted to play, and I had been having fun splashing around in the river. I think... I think she saved my life... I almost got swept away in the current when I went too far out."

“My first… was a sighting just after I left Pallet Town. I saw Ho-oh fly by after a storm had passed.” Ash put in.

“I met Rayquaza for the first time, on top of some so called, unclimable mountains about seven years ago, I’d heard there were some unbelievably rare Pokemon up there, so I went, and like an idiot I forgot to take something to shield against the bitter wind, so I found this huge cave, and poked my head inside, and nearly got it Hyper Beamed off my shoulders.” Iason said, “Rayquaza let me inside once I convinced him I wasn’t going to attack him or anything, but I ended up like an ice cube in the meantime.”

“I met Raikou during a Thunder and Lightening storm, I was hiding in a cave and saw Raikou come in,” Brendan told them, “I was about eight years old, and this great big yellow, white and black dog came in and stared at me for about what felt like an hour, then went to sleep. I fell asleep while waiting for the storm to finish, and by the time I woke up, he was gone.”

“I think I met Suicune for the first time by the forest lake near my home town, we’d been having trouble with some poison Pokemon and though the town had managed to clear them out, the lake was still in trouble. Then I was down there one day, about four days before I left home, trying to clear up the lake as best as I could, when I had the weirdest feeling of something watching me, I turned around and Suicune was stood behind me, and he cleaned up the lake.” Katherine told them with a smile.

“I was in Altomare when I first met Latios, me and Faith had been travelling for a while and were enjoying the rest, and the first ever glimpse we got of Latias and Latios was when they were swimming in the canals, just below the bridge where we were eating Ice Cream.” Darius said, with only a small smile.

Ash laughed, “Be glad you weren’t in the Tour De Altomare, I ended up half drowned when Latias and Latios couldn’t agree.”

“Agree on what?”

“One wanted to help me win, the other thought it was unfair on the others in the race and decided to capsize my boat.” Darius snorted.

“I remember Latias telling Faith about that just over two years ago.”

“I met Zapdos after being chosen as ‘the Chosen One’ for the annual festival, on Shamouti Island,” Raven explained, “Zapdos was asleep but I tripped over my own feet and woke him up. Luckily for me he decided that he quite liked humans at the moment and would let me get on with my festival as long as I returned the gem more quietly.”

“Lucky you,” Rex growled, “I got chased off of Fire Island by a broody Moltres.”

“You should both think yourselves lucky,” Ash laughed, “At least you didn’t have the three birds trying to kill you. That was the first time I met Lugia, during the legend festival on Shamouti Island, you know the whole; the World will turn to Ash thing? Try having to find those gems and put them in their place after Zapdos, Moltres and Articuno decided they really didn't want to live in peace with each other anymore. And what do I get? A prophecy saying I had to save the world.”

“Poor you.” Rex laughed.

“But you’ve met Mew as well… haven’t you?” Danielle said.
