Isla Del Leyendas: Part 15.2

The others couldn’t deny this, as they looked up and down the corridor. “Left or right?” Iason asked.

“Which way doesn’t lead to Ghosts?” George replied.

“Ummm, we don’t know that yet.” Juni answered.

“Surely we want to go the way the ghosts are because it means we’re going in the opposite direction to the way our enemy wants.” Greg spoke up.

“No, because if we go the way our enemy wants, we might find the others.” Darius growled.

“Heads or tails?” Kayla suggested.

“No way, last time you did that we fell down those stairs…” Ash complained.

“Yes but we ran into Danielle.”

“No, you almost fell on top of me.” Danielle laughed as Iason just shook his head, trying not to laugh, while Darius looked both ways. He was willing to bet that there couldn’t be that many more floors going down, after all this wasn’t some RPG, where the dungeon had like ninety-nine levels all full of Pokemon.

“Votes for left?”

Three hands.

“Votes for right?”

“Three hands.”

Iason rolled his eyes, “Votes for those who haven’t voted.”

Seven hands. Iason sighed and pulled a coin out of his back pocket, “Fine, heads left, tails right.”

Everyone watched the coin fall, so silently that they could hear when it hit the floor.

“Tails.”

“Right then.”

Greg stood there watching them, watching one of them in particular, his brown hair which he’d tied back in a pony tail had come loose causing a few strands to fall into his eyes. His hand ached from all the times he'd made a fist and released it, but he didn’t notice the pain, it had been put aside for now.

Katherine was looking at him, the teen had a triangular face and eyes that seemed to burn... He had a mark on his left cheek, it could be a bruise... or just dirt, it hadn’t been there before they’d fallen. His nose had been broken once, that was plain for all to see. If she didn’t know where those burning eyes were focused, she’d’ve had said that he was just another member of the group, but they were focused on Ash and Pikachu, as they had been for the last… Katherine checked her Poketech, causing it’s screen to light up, two hours, something that Ash was either ignoring, or was oblivious to. Pikachu on the other hand wasn’t and kept shooting glares back at the older boy.

They walked down the right hand corridor, this time Greg was walking at the back, and someone had had the clever idea of Rex walking with him, Juni was certain that them two walking at the back would probably end in a fight sooner or later, she could see it happening. The Chosen of the Fire Bird, and the Chosen of the Dog of Fire had already had one argument and Iason had had to split them up… She plonked herself in the middle of the two older teens, and other then a surprised look from Rex, nothing was mentioned, Juni was determined that they weren’t going to fight until they’d at least left the Temple.

Fight each other that is…

A swarm of Ghost Pokemon came round the corner, causing another battle.

“Noctowl!” Raven immediately called, “Foresight!”

Hayley was back to back to back with her brother and sister felt Juni move away, and wheeled around, “Juni?” She saw the ghost and growled, “Danielle, is that your Haunter?”

Danielle wheeled around and looked, “No.”

George growled, “Wartortle, use Water Gun on Juni!”

Juni stopped in her tracks as the water hit her, the Haunter glared at them, just in time to be clobbered by Danielle’s Haunter, it fled, but around them the battle continued.

“Pikachu! Galie!” Ash called, “Attack!”

As his Pokemon attacked the ghosts, Ash looked around; he’d lost sight of… “BRENDAN?” Ash yelled, then had to move quickly to avoid a Nightshade attack that had been fired at him.

Iason heard Ash’s yell and looked around also, Brendan had vanished… this couldn’t be good. The Trainers were forced back, to the t junction before the Ghosts vanished as quickly as they’d come.

“Damn, damn, damn.” Kayla growled, “They got another one.”

“You alright sis?” George asked Juni, who was pale, but unharmed.

“You were supposed to have his back.” Greg snapped at Ash.

“I did… or I thought I did, one minute he was there the next he wasn’t.”

“You should’ve been paying closer attention!”

“Shut up. What’s done is done.” Iason told Greg, “We’re just going to have to be…”

“How can we be any more careful? They’re taking people from under our noses!” George growled, “Juni was nearly taken that time!” Iason growled but didn’t know what to say.

“There has to be something we can do to prevent any more people from falling to Hypnosis.” Hayley said, “We just haven’t thought of it yet…”

"Does anyone have any rope? Or string?" Raven asked as an idea occurred to him.

There were several heads shaken. Hayley shrugged her backpack off and started to dig through it. "I think I do... give me a moment." She started removing things, and after a moment, "Ah Ha! Knew I brought it." She pulled out a small bag, and in it was several strands of embroidery thread. "Will this do?"

Light dawned in Iason's eyes, "You're not serious..."

Raven nodded, "Why not? They keep hypnotising us, but if we're tied together then it'll be a lot harder to separate us."

"Wait a sec, tied together?"

"Do you have a better idea?" Raven challenged.

"But thread is easy to snap... isn't it Hayley?" George put in.

"Yes, when it's a single strand, but these aren't single threads, they're in sixes. They'll only break if we cut them."

"Fine so we tie ourselves together in a line, which means the two on the end will only be attached to one, while everyone else will be tied to two."

“Have a triangle at the ends then instead of a basic straight line. See here?" She placed the threads in two patterns, <|-------|> and |>------<|. "The second one is the better idea I think."
