I
danced with the King of Games.
In
theory, that shouldn’t be the highlight of the weekend considering that I made
the semi-finals of the tournament (only to get knocked out by Seto Kaiba, but
am I really that surprised?), met some really famous people and did, in fact,
help save the world.
So
why was the masquerade ball, with its slow dancing and awkward moments, the
highlight of my weekend?
I
suppose it helped that Stroder Corp did put decent music on, my dress and mask
were hand made by my fashion student friend from the university and, though I
went on my own since none of my friends could afford tickets, I wasn’t left partner-less
for the dancing as Yugi, who was, somehow, partner-less himself, asked politely,
early into the evening, if he could use me as a way to escape Vivian Wong, the
creepy Chinese fangirl stalker who I’d knocked out early on in the tournament
and had been butting heads with ever since.
And
so I got to dance with the King of Games.
Oh
he wasn’t a brilliant dancer, in fact I suppose the best that could be said was
that we did the whole 1-2-3, 1-2-3 turning in circles thing, but it was fun
and, at the end of the night, he thanked me for the good time before catching
up with Joey and Mai (Tristan and Tea hadn’t been able to make it due to family
commitments and job issues), leaving me to head up to my own room and get a
good night’s sleep before I departed for England and a new university year.
I
suppose that’s not the story you want though. You want the tales of my battles,
of getting my butt kicked so hard that I could wear it as a hat and how I
helped Yugi Mutou save the world.
Even
if all I did was cause the right person to be distracted at the right time...
You
still want the story?
Fine,
here it is...
