Vision from a Pokemon RP

She’s seeing things from the perspective of a terrified mother cradling her child, a baby boy, as she runs from the soldiers behind her. She slips into the hidden passageways of the mountain and keeps running despite how safe the passages should be, not stopping until she passed a trio of pillars, each which had an intricate craving of a legendary bird atop them.

The moment she passes the pillars, a village appears around her. She slows to a walk, feeling safer now, within the village’s protections. It’s really old, slightly rundown and overgrown, seeming to have grown out of the foliage and mountainside.

There are many who know her as she hurries to the temple in the centre of the village, the only building that wasn’t overgrown or falling apart. They call to her, waving, though she does little more than nod and smile back with an ease she doesn’t feel.

She reaches the temple, where a group of priests bow to her. She doesn’t stop to talk to them, instead hurrying further into the temple, where she finds who she’s looking for.

“My Lady...” She starts, speaking to a black haired, pale woman who almost never left the temple.

She doesn’t get to finish as a frightened cry arises from the edge of town. The woman she had been speaking to moves across to the window, winces and darts out the door after insisting that her companion take Tat to the Room of Offerings while she spoke to the newcomers.

Once there the companion darted off to catch up with the woman, leaving her behind with her child. Almost immediately she starts praying to the Guardians, praying for the safety of her village, her prayers becoming more fervent as the cries turn to screams and bellows of furious, dangerous Pokémon.

Ice starts building up around the edges of the room as the cries of the Guardian Birds fills the air, she puts her child down, praying briefly for his safety and letting out a breath of relief when she sees a hint of a Pokémon then he fades from sight, a faint green glow remaining in his place and fading away as she darts over to the window.

She gets a brief glimpse of the three birds attacking the soldiers who were using ice Pokémon to attack the town.

Then everything is cold and white and the memories stop.

When Tat comes to, she’s in the temple’s Room of Offerings, which looks like it’s been encased in NeverMeltIce.

Mystery Dungeon Novel - unfinished

“Where am I?

Am I dreaming this?

I feel a pleasant breeze.

…I hear a voice from somewhere…

I wonder who it is?”

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Poke.

Poke. Poke.

Poke. Poke. Poke.

“E…Excuse me. Please, wake up.”

She rolled over.

“Come on, wake up!”

Shizuka opened her eyes, stood up and stretched, the forest surrounding her a welcome sight.

Until she realised she wasn’t supposed to be here…

“You’re finally awake! Great!” The Mudkip in front of her was grinning.

“Wh…where is this?” She looked around trying to see if she recognised the area.

“You were passed out here. I’m glad to see you’re awake!” The Mudkip said, watching her and wondering what she was doing. “I’m Jet. Glad to meet you. And you are? I’ve never seen you around before.”

“How am I even understanding you?” Shizuka asked, “I’m human.”

“Huh?” Jet looked incredibly confused, “You’re a human? But you look like a normal Charmander in every way.”

“What?” Shizuka held up her paws… paws? She turned around, trying to get a good look at herself. Catching a glimpse of something behind her she tried to see what it was by turning around, but the thing followed her… she stopped and looked over her shoulder. It was an orange tail with a flame at the end… her tail…

“It…It’s true! I’ve turned into a Charmander!” Shizuka yelped in her mind, completely confused, “But why? I don’t remember anything… I have to be dreaming…”

“Um…” The Mudkip, Jet, was talking again, “You’re kind of weird. Your name? What’s your name?”

“My name?” Shizuka thought, “I remember that at least. My name is…” “Shizuka, my name’s Shizuka.”

“Oh…” The Mudkip pondered this, “Shizuka huh? Well… It’s a funny name.” Jet giggled, causing Shizuka to wonder if there was someone else who could help her.

Before she could ask, however, a scared lady’s voice called, “Somebody! Please! Help me!”

“Huh? I hear shouts from over there!” Jet stated.

“I’ve befriended Mr State-the-obvious then.” Shizuka thought with a small smile as a Butterfree flew over.

“What’s wrong?” Jet asked the Butterfree.

“It’s horrible!” Butterfree replied, panicking, “My Caterpie fell into a cavern! My poor baby!”

“What?” Jet yelped as Shizuka frowned.

“A huge fissure opened in the ground, and my Caterpie fell in!” The mother continued, “He’s too young to crawl out by himself! When I went to get my baby, Pokemon suddenly attacked me!”

“Huh, you were attacked?” Jet asked, confused, “By other Pokemon?”

“Is it that strange around here?” The Charmander wondered as Butterfree continued.

“They must be enraged by the fissure and out of control… at least… that’s what I think.” Butterfree gazed at the ground, “I’m not strong enough to fend off those wild Pokemon. What will become of my baby?” It sounded like Butterfree was going to start crying… if Butterfrees could, “Oh! What am I to do?! Oh dear, oh dear!”

Jet turned to Shizuka, who already had an idea what he was going to ask, “This sounds bad, we have to go help!”

Shizuka nodded and they raced to the fissure, climbing down safely and reaching the bottom.

“What do we do?” Shizuka asked Jet as they looked around, “Caterpie isn’t here any more.”

“We’ll have to go deeper into the caves and try to find him,” Jet said, giving her an appraising glance, “What level are you?”

“Uhhh. I don’t know.”

“Well you’re quite small, so maybe you’re a low level like me.” Jet said, looking her over again, “What do you know?”

“Uhhhh.” Shizuka yelped and lashed out at a Wurmple that tried to attack her, her claws racking it, causing it to faint.

“Scratch, obviously.” Jet grinned, “So you must know Growl too.”

“Can we just go?” The Charmander asked irritably, “The sooner we find Caterpie, the sooner I can wake up from this dream.”

“Dream?” Jet asked, but Shizuka was already racing down a corridor, “Shizuka! Wait up!”

She kept on running, following the passageway around until she found a cross road, “Hey Jet, left or right?”

“Uh, right?” Jet hazarded, not knowing what the strange Charmander girl was up to. She dove down the right passage way, keeping an eye out for Caterpie, only to find herself in the first room they’d come to.

“Jet?” She asked as she noticed something gold and shiney, picking it up awkwardly with her paws, “What’s this?”

“Cool, you found some Poke!” Jet grinned, “It’s money, you can use it in the shops in town!”

Shizuka grinned and passed it to the Mudkip who had a bag of some kind, before passing Jet and heading back towards the passageway.

From no where, a Sunkern burst out of hiding and attempted to attack.

This time Shizuka was ready, using Scratch and knocking out the rampaging Pokemon. “I feel kind of guilty, knocking them out like this.” She said, looking over her shoulder before continuing, narrowly avoiding an attacking Pidgey, who Jet used Growl on before Shizuka used Scratch to defeat, “Why would they suddenly attack other Pokemon?”

“I think it might be…” Jet paused to Growl at another Pidgey, “The Earthquakes and things recently that’s disturbing the Pokemon and causing trouble.”

“What Earthquakes?” Shizuka asked as she took the other path.

“How could you have missed them?” Jet looked outraged as Shizuka took point and led them down the stairs, which, considering they were natural, were remarkably well made, “They’ve been shaking the island for days.”

“I’m not a Pokemon, remember?” Shizuka asked as she emerged from the stairs only to be assaulted by another Sunkern, which she Scratched and grinned, this felt natural, like she’d always known how to do this. Most of the rooms on this floor were empty, with no sign of Caterpie, other then some Poke and some Pidgeys that attacked without warning.

Finding the stairs to the next floor in the last place they looked, Jet took point this time, only to be assaulted by a Pidgey and a Wurmple, who the duo knocked out easily.

“What’s this?” Shizuka asked as she nearly stepped on a berry of some kind.

“It’s an Oran Berry.” Jet answered, still wondering how she couldn’t know about the Natural Disasters, “It heals you.”

“Cool.” Shizuka held onto it, “So what about these Natural Disasters? What’s causing them?”

“No one knows. The island was pretty quiet until about a week ago and then…” Jet shrugged, “Shizuka watch…”

A Pidgey used Tackle on her from behind, knocking her over. She Growled as she got up and counter attacked with Scratch, that had hurt… dreams didn’t hurt… “I’m not dreaming, am I?” She asked herself as she headed downstairs again.

“Where is this?” She asked Jet.

“You really don’t remember anything do you?” Jet laughed, “This is Tiny Woods, where a lot of low level Pokemon hang out.”

Shizuka let the words sink in as she heard someone crying, “Come on Jet, I think I hear someone.”

Jet’s fins were shaking. “I think it’s Caterpie.” He laughed, racing a head of her as they reached the bottom of the stairs.

She didn’t understand why it was so light when they kept going downwards until they reached the lowest floor, the trees that made up the walls of ‘Tiny Woods’ were too densely packed to let Pokemon in or out, but their leaves let light in.

They followed the sound of the crying to a Caterpie who was crying, looking for his Mother.

“We came to rescue you.” Jet said, not even waiting for Caterpie to turn around.

“Huh?” It asked, turning around. The Caterpie was tiny, it couldn’t be long out of the egg.

“Your Mum’s waiting,” Jet continued, “Let’s get you out.”

“O…ok.” Caterpie followed them, avoiding Shizuka nervously, avoiding the flame on the end of her tail.

Safely getting back up the floors and carrying Caterpie up the climb they got back to Butterfree without many words shared, even though Shizuka had millions of questions.

“My baby’s safe,” Butterfree smiled at them, “I’m sorry, I don’t know how I could ever thank you properly.”

“Oh, that’s OK!” Jet grinned at her, “It’s been dangerous lately with sudden quakes and fissures like that one. It was great to find your little boy unharmed.”

“Please, may I have your names at least?” She asked.

“I’m Jet.” The Mudkip nodded, “And this is Shizuka.” The Charmander nodded also.

“Cool.” Caterpie looked starry eyed.

“He’s, uh… staring at me adoringly…those sparkly eyes…It’s a little embarrassing… but this doesn’t feel bad either, it’s like I’m a hero. Helping Pokemon in trouble might be a good experience.” Shizuka thought, “Or at least until I find a way to turn myself human again.” She amended hastily.

“Thank you! Jet and Shizuka!” Caterpie said, loudly enough for the whole of Tiny Woods to hear.

“I know it isn’t really enough,” Butterfree said, giving her son a look to quiet him down, “But this is a token of our thanks. Please, accept it.” Butterfree gave Jet an Oran Berry, another blue one that wasn’t quite the same as an Oran berry and a pink berry Shizuka hadn’t seen before. “Thank you so much. Good-bye.” Butterfree and Caterpie left, leaving Shizuka feeling confused.

“Thanks for helping.” Jet said, turning to the Charmander once again, “You’re very tough, I was sure impressed.” Then he looked quizzical, “So, what are you going to do? Do you have any plans?”

“I suppose I should find out why I’ve been turned into a Pokemon, but I don’t know where to start or have anywhere to stay while I’m finding that out…”

“Listen Shizuka,” Jet continued as if she hadn’t paused, “If you don’t have a place to stay, you should come stay with me.” Shizuka thought for a moment, then nodded and followed Jet back to town, where he stopped outside a large house with flames in torches surrounding it. “Well,” Jet turned to her, smiling, “This is the place.”

Shizuka looked at it properly, it was orange and beige brick and kind of reminded her of a furnace. “Wow.” She grinned, “I can’t explain, but I’m happy! I’m a human being, but I like this place. I’m weirdly happy… perhaps it’s an instinct thing for a Pokemon… maybe this is what it feels like to want to wag your tail… It doesn’t matter! I’m happy!” She grinned, “maybe I feel that way because I’m a Charmander.”

“You’re impressed, aren’t you Shizuka?” Jet asked with a hopeful look on his face. She nodded in reply, “I thought so. I thought this would be a good place for you to live, Shizuka. I was sure you’d like it.”

“I have my own mailbox and everything?” Shizuka asked.

“Yeap, they deliver mail from Pokemon straight to your mailbox.” Jet’s face turned serious, “You know, like the fissure Caterpie fell into, there have been many natural disasters recently, because of those disasters, many Pokemon are suffering. I want to help Pokemon in these tough times. I want to help change things so Pokemon can live in peace.” He got all nervous and kicked his back feet, “So, uh… Well… I liked how you handled yourself when we rescued Caterpie. Would you like to join me on a Rescue Team?”

“What’s a Rescue Team?”

“You don’t… Sorry, I forgot, not a Pokemon from this island. A Rescue Team does the sort of thing we did today day in and day out, saves Pokemon who are trapped in Caves or places like Tiny Woods, escorts weaker Pokemon to their friends in dangerous places and generally are charged with helping maintain the peace.”

“So they’re kind of like the Police?”

“The who?”

Shizuka frowned, the memory there but just beyond reach, “I’m not sure.”

Jet laughed, grinning at his new friend and shaking his head, “You are defiantly weird, but I like you.” Then his eyes widened, “Our Team name! We don’t have one yet!”

“Isn’t it your team?”

“We’re the first two members…” Jet sounded embarrassed, “So Shizuka, what do you think would be a good name for us?”

“Uhhh.” “What do you call a Rescue Team?” “Tasukete?”

“What does that mean?” Jet asked, looking at her askance.

Shizuka thought for a moment and then grinned, “It’s a call for help.” She said proudly, having remembered.

Jet thought hard, “A Rescue Team who’s name is a call for help…”

“Nevermind, I can think of something else…”

“No, I like it.” Jet said hastily, “It’s a good name! In fact it’s perfect.” Jet took on a stance that Shizuka could only assume was a proud one, “Rescue Team Tasukete!” Jet grinned, “Let’s do good, starting tomorrow.” He headed off somewhere.

“Wait, Jet!” Shizuka called, “Where’re you going?”

“Home, to sleep.” The Mudkip yawned at her.

“But I thought you lived here?”

Jet laughed, “Sometimes, but since you’ll be living here now, I thought I’d go visit my old home.”

“I don’t want to kick you out of your house…”

“It’s fine, honest, I have plenty of places to go. Besides that house is very much for Fire Types like yourself, it’s too warm for me.”

“Then why did you buy it?” Shizuka asked, head tilted as she pondered.

“It’s big enough for a Rescue Team base and…” He stopped at Shizuka’s grin, she understood. “Anyway, I’m tired and I bet you are too…”

“Can you tell me more about what’s going on tomorrow?” She paused, “Please?”

“Sure.” Jet nodded, “Night Shizuka.”

“G’night Jet.” “Hopefully in the morning I’ll wake up from this crazy dream.”

Shadow Game - Ryou, Dragon and Dratini 'vs' Bakura

Ryou hadn’t agreed to this, hadn’t wanted to be a part of the Shadow Game that Bakura had convinced him to help in designing, but here he was, playing White Mage to a pair of girls who were convinced that the other shouldn’t exist.

He knew what Bakura had been planning for this game, knew why the girls were here, had an idea of how this game would run, but the girls didn’t seem to be aware that they were in a game, so lost in trying to work out where the hell the other had come from, that going from his living room to a stone room with only one exit, an exit he knew led to a maze, hadn’t interrupted their row.

“You can’t be real!” The midnight blue eyed Jamie with white highlights in her hair was snarling, “I’m Jamie Francis! Me! Not you! You’ve got to be some fake created by some villain for one reason or another!”

“You’re wrong,” The sapphire eyed, normal haired Jamie replied, backing up a little, fear obvious, “I’m Jamie, I’ve always been Jamie…”

Sapphire hit the floor when midnight slapped her hard enough to leave an imprint of her hand.

“Will you two quit it?” Ryou asked, getting between then and trying not to look nervous as one Jamie scowled at him and the other gave him a confused, slightly nervous look.

“…You’re Ryou… aren’t you?” Sapphire eyes asked, watching him carefully as she sat up, holding her cheek.

“Yes.” Ryou nodded, “For some strange reason my dark side decided it would be funny to bring me into your game against him.” He addressed the pair of them.

“Sorry…” Sapphire eyes looked down, guilt obvious, understandable even, as she had asked Bakura if they could play a game, but midnight grew irritable.

“If you’re Ryou, then you’d know why ‘Kura created her!” Midnight scowled, gesturing at sapphire. “Why he’d create such a weak copy of me!?”

“He didn’t.” Ryou had wondered if this was why he’d been shoved into the game, to stop midnight doing anything dangerous regarding sapphire.

“He had to have done, there’s only one Jamie Francis and I’m her!”

“No I am!” Sapphire protested, getting to her feet. “I was Jamie Francis long before you came about!”

“You’re both Jamie!” Ryou snapped before they could start rowing again.

“No we’re not!” Both girls snapped back at him simultaneously, then blinked at each other for a moment before midnight was scowling again. Sapphire though, looked thoughtful. “Ryou? How did you and Bakura get split?”

“The Millennium Ring split Bakura’s soul into two back in Egypt,” Ryou explained carefully. “Into light and darkness. The light became reincarnated.”

“That’s you, right?” Sapphire double checked.

Ryou nodded. “And the darkness was sealed in the Ring, only to be released when I had the Ring and came into contact with the Puzzle, five thousand years later.”

“And Yugi gained his bond with the Pharaoh when he gained the Puzzle…” Sapphire said. Ryou noted the way midnight’s eyes flashed when Sapphire mentioned Yami, but didn’t bring it up.

Midnight frowned, seeing where this was going. “But I do not hold a Millennium Item.”

“We did.” Sapphire had already worked the problem through to its logical conclusion and had forced herself to accept what he was saying; even if she wasn’t sure she completely believed it, “Remember Dragonite? We held the Ring for ‘Kura after Marik tried to get rid of him and…”Sapphire looked at Ryou. “We held the Ring for you, temporarily, but Yugi got you back so...”

Dragonite? Ryou wondered, looking from one girl to the other, wondering just how aware they had been of each other before this.

Midnight was thinking, “So Dratini isn’t just a dream…” She mused out loud, turning to watch the sapphire eyed girl who looked afraid that ‘Dragonite’ would hit her again, “I am her and she is me and we together make Jamie Francis…”

“Together we are Jamie, or we used to be Jamie… could we be Jamie again?” Sapphire asked Bakura’s dark.

“You are still Jamie.” Ryou tried to reassure her, “But so is Dragonite,” He seized on ‘Dratini’s’ name for the midnight eyed girl, “Both of you are Jamie but at the same time the Jamie that was, is no longer here. Not unless the pair of you can work together.”

“But couldn’t we just merge back into one soul?” Dratini asked, an innocent question coming from an innocent soul, neither Jamie could have a clue of what being split truly meant.

“Not without intervention greater then that of a Millennium Item.” Ryou shook his head.

“Then we are stuck with each other?” Dragonite asked, examining Dratini as if now considering her as a tag-team partner, “I have to deal with her weakness and emotional outbursts?” She sounded disgusted.

“And I have to deal with her temper and violence?” Dratini could give as good as she got. Ryou was amused. For someone who had had their battle hardened and temperamental side ripped away from them and formed into someone else, Dratini wasn’t one to roll over and play dead, probably because she’d had both Bakura and Dragonite in her head at the same time at one point. This was good. She’d need this bite, should Dragonite become like Yami Marik…

The pair glowered at each other.

“If you wish to be Jamie, yes.” Ryou nodded.

“But she’s so…”

“Unless the pair of you want to end up like Marik.” Ryou cut off their chorused protest and watched Dratini shake her head empathically and Dragonite scowl at him like he should be ashamed of even considering that they could become like Marik.

“Never. We,” Dragonite indicated herself and Dratini, “Are Jamelia Francis, Aspiring Pokémon Champion from the Town of Littleroot, not some cheating scumbag who could only attack from the shadows until his own darkness overwhelmed him.”

There was the ‘we’. This Shadow Game had been planned by his dark long before Dratini had asked if Bakura would teach her how to play Monster World, and it’s primary focus had been to create this ‘we’ that Dragonite was talking about.

He knew what Bakura was doing, but it hurt that Bakura was doing this to create a proper, symbiotic, relationship between Dragonite and Dratini, the two aspects that made up the girl Bakura loved, when he had never done anything like it to try to bond with his own hikari.

But then would Ryou have welcomed it, after everything Bakura had done?

Like sealing his friends from back home in those game pieces?

Like sealing Ryou inside his favourite card and trying to force him to destroy his new friends here?

Like all the things that Bakura had gotten him to do in order to further his own, insane plan, which, if it succeeded, would result in the end of the world…?

Would Ryou want a relationship like the one this game was designed to try and foster between Dratini and Dragonite knowing what Bakura had done and what he was trying to do?

He didn’t know, but if it meant getting out of the game he had been shoved into in order to stop the girls from killing each other, then he would help Bakura’s insane game plan along.

“Well then, shall we find our way out?” Ryou asked, noting Dratini was wary of taking the hand offered to her by Dragonite, looking half afraid it would bite, and watching as Dragonite grew exasperated and pulled the light to her feet anyway.

“I’m sorry you got pulled into our game.” Dratini told Ryou earnestly.

“Do you know what class I’m playing?” Ryou asked, actually kind of looking forward to it, knowing what the penalties were and not too worried about them unless Dratini and Dragonite were unable to work together. Then it might get dangerous.

Bakura had arranged this game to be difficult, difficult enough to incite Jamie’s passion for challenge and triumph, but certainly not impossible, like the game he’d set up when he’d played Yugi the first time had been meant to be.

Dragonite headed towards the room’s one exit, hand automatically going to her belt, where six small balls resembling Pokeballs, but in different colours, rested. He remembered hand modelling and painting those to go on her character model; Dratini had a set just like it.

“No…”

“I’m a white mage, a healer.” He explained properly when she looked confused, “It means I can use healing magic if you get injured.”

“Then I’m glad you’re here.” Dragonite hissed from the doorway. “It doesn’t look like Bakura’s going to make this easy on us…”

“What do you…?” Dratini’s question was cut off by an answering roar of whatever was wandering up the passageway. “Oh.”

“This should be fun.” Dragonite sounded far too happy about being faced down by a chimera like monster. “Now how did Bakura say this Monster Caller thing worked?” She muttered to herself.

“Like this…” Dratini tapped the blue and white Pokeball like thing. “I summon my water spirit!” She announced and was delighted when Tidal Fox appeared in front of her.

“Oh that’s simple enough.” Dragonite nodded, “Dark spirit come forth!” She tapped the purple and white ball and Fox Shadow sprang to her aid.

Ryou watched for a moment, then raised his staff, wondering what would happen should Dratini and Dragonite call the same ‘spirit’ at the same time considering that they were working off of the same character sheet…

“Fox Shadow!” Dragonite demanded, “Attack!”

Into History - Pokemon fanfic

Ash Ketchum of Pallet Town had gone looking for firewood and successfully gotten himself and his Pikachu lost. May, Max and Brock were all back at camp, setting up for the night, while Ash had gotten the short straw and had to go into the forest to find some wood.

That part hadn’t been hard, the hard part had come when they’d tried to get back out and found that the forest seemed to keep turning around on him.

Pikachu jumped down, listening to something, and sparking angrily. “Pikapi!” It shouted and dashed off. Ash, torch in one hand, wood in the other followed his best friend.

“Lebi!” Pikachu stopped in its tracks and Ash did the same, it couldn’t be, “Celebi, Lebi.”

A green Pokemon shot through the trees and stopped in front of Ash.

“Lebi.”

“Celebi?” Ash asked it, as Pikachu climbed up on his shoulder. “What’re you doing here?”

“Lebi, Celebi Lebi.”

The Grass/Psychic Pokemon grabbed onto his jacket.

“What’s wrong?”

Ash panicked as the lights which had once been described as the ‘Voice of the Forest’ and heralded Celebi’s time travel appeared.

“Celebi?”

Only minutes later, Brock, who had followed the broken bracken to the spot where the Voice of the Forest had originated, found nothing there but a pile of firewood and a torch. Brock checked it over, hoping against hope it was not… it had a name written on the bottom of it… Ash Ketchum…

“ASH?” Brock looked around, afraid for his friend, “ASH?”

If Ash had been caught by the Voice of the Forest…

It was quite possible that they may never see their friend again.

SPOILERS: Pokémon Y: Thoughts of the Lead Character

It was a small collection of shiny stones. To most people they wouldn’t be worth very much. They looked more like big marbles than anything else. The only reason she knew the group hadn’t been replaced by marbles was the slight glow in each and every one of the balls.

They had no real ‘official’ group name, each one was named for the Pokémon who could use them. However, she called them Megacite. Each one of them interacted with her bracelet, the Mega Ring she had acquired in the Master’s Tower.

She had more Megacite than she had Pokémon who could use them. Even on her own squad she only actually carried two Pokémon who could use their Megacite to evolve to a higher level. A level beyond their normal form, unlocking their hidden potential.

She had been very careful with the extra evolution. There were people who had asked odd questions about her strange, overpowered Pokémon. Accusations had flown about genetically modified Pokémon and unfair tactics, along with a marked interested from the bad guys every time she ended up using the stones in their presence.

If she was honest with herself, however, she had been far too eager to play with the new power when she had first received it. Almost every battle she had entered for the first twenty four hours had involved a mega evolution of some kind of another. Only of course, if she had sent her Lucario or her Charizard into combat, but she had drawn far, far too much attention to herself in doing it.

Still the time to really use the power was at hand. Lysander’s mass message to everyone with a holocaster was a disturbing one. She had suspected him of being in on Team Flare’s scheme for a while. Despite the fact the Professor had been friends with him for a long time, Lysander had been spouting much the same spiel as the grunts she had been smacking around for while.

What was worse was that the Professor had been telling Lysander what she and her friends had been up to. The five of them, collectively known as Sycamore’s students, had been through an awful lot since they had left home and apparently Lysander had been told about all of it.

He had contacted her almost immediately after she had gotten her Mega Ring. Had encouraged her to think about working to change the world, that letting things stay the way they are was wrong. She should have reported him then. Before he had reached the point where he could threaten the lives of everyone in the world.

He was probably stronger than her. Though she had not had much trouble with that even without using the Megacite, she was a brand new Trainer, only a few months from leaving home. He was the leader of a Team of villains who wanted to destroy the world. This wasn’t just one or two grunts, or a small group of villains taking over a power plant.

This was the world.

Still she had her team, her whole team, not just Lucario and Charizard, but Delphfox, Talonflame, Raichu and Pyroar too. Between the six of them, she had faith they could stop whatever was planned. She had a horrible feeling it was going to involve the legendary Pokémon, Yvetal and its power to suck away the lifeforce of those around it upon awakening.

The only really concern she had was if she ran into a water, ground or rock type. Water types had a match in Raichu, but she didn’t have anything on her team to tackle the other two types. Defeating the rock type Gym had taken a lot of sheer dumb luck and a copious amount of ‘Dragon Rage’ on the part of her, at the time, Charmeleon.

It had worked before though and her team knew better moves now then they had then. She had more experience too. She knew more tactics and had had more practise herself. She would be able to back up her Pokémon as they fought together as a group to prevent Lysander’s plans.

She just had to hope all the growing up she had done over the last couple of months and the power of the Megacite would be enough to allow her to save the world.

Sneak Peak: Relic Song Chapter 4

Seto was understandably wary when he stepped out of his helicopter and onto the grounds of Duellist Kingdom. The last time he had been here had not been a pleasant experience and when his little brother had informed him that this was a trap, he hadn’t been surprised. The who had been a shock, but not the trap itself.

Having already phoned his teacher in Shadow Magic, he already knew the Millennium Rod was useless if the enemy activated their own spells. However he felt better knowing that his Millennium item was at his side, if only because it meant he knew where it was and that it wouldn’t be turned against him.

Mokuba followed him without a word as he entered the castle. The younger Kaiba brother wasn’t convinced that coming was a good idea. Even with the powers of a Millennium item on their side and the Pokémon he had borrowed from Cassandra, he wasn’t sure. Still the company was under threat and there was nothing he could or would say or do to prevent his brother walking into this.

‘Pegasus’ was waiting for them in the entrance way, smiling cheerfully with that vindictive hint that only a gamer would pick up on, just as he had when he’d sealed both of their souls away. “Ah, Kaiba-bo...”

“You can drop the act.” Seto glowered at the man before them, “I know you’re not Pegasus. You’re not annoying enough for a start.”

“Really?” The fake Pegasus sounded disappointed, “But I tried so hard to get it just right. Oh well...” With that he took a step back and Mokuba let out a startled yelp as the floor vanished beneath him.

“Mokuba!” Kaiba lunged for his little brother, trying to grab his arm as he fell but missed. The younger Kaiba brother slid down the pipe, cussing hidden passageways as he shot out of the end of the pipe and tumbled onto the floor.

Lunar Dance: Part 4

They got very, very lost on the way through the route. So lost, in fact that Kaze and Issui reached level ten while they were walking. Yami, who had switched with Yugi, convinced he might have more luck than Yugi in finding their way, was training with Hane when they were attacked by a Starly.

Yami wasn’t too worried, by this point they had fought against so many wild  Starly that he was confident Hane could win against the larger Pokémon. The pair of bird Pokémon went at it, attacking each other by tackling each other in midair.

Keeping a close eye on Hane’s health using the Pokedex, Yami was about to use a potion on his bird, when suddenly the opposing creature managed to land a blow that sent Hane tumbling from the air. Before Yami could recall his Pokémon, the pokéball in his hand shattered and the bird falling from the skies disintegrated into purple shards before fading away.

“What the...” Yami stared at the empty air where his Starly had been. Pokémon didn’t do that when they fainted, not in real life. This had to be part of the rules of the Shadow Game. Probably yet another rule Bakura had failed to mention to them.

Yugi was just as shocked as he was. In fact he had started to like his Pokémon and watching one of them just disintegrate into the evening air. They were still in shock when they stumbled into town, where Hikari met them at the entrance.

She sulked when they had one more Pokémon in their Pokedex than her and then was just taking them to the Trainer School when they were interrupted by some strange man who claimed to be from the International Police. Codenamed Looker, the man was certainly odd enough to pull Yugi out of his shock and cause him to focus.

Lunar Dance: Part 3

A brief stop at the PokeCentre and the local mart later, Yugi left town fifteen pokéballs, one premier ball, one potion and two antidotes heavier and Y3500 poorer.  He wasn’t actually sure he needed all of that, but Yami had reminded him that they had started the game with that much money for a reason. It was better to be prepared than not when they didn’t know what they were getting into.

Hikari was waiting for them on the outskirts of town and shoved them back towards the houses, the game’s plot forcing them to detour back to their arrival point to talk to their ‘mom.’

Once there they got a journal to write in and a parcel from Jun’s mother to deliver to him when they saw him. Then it was back to town again. By the time they got back, Issui had learned Bubble and they had left a trail of knocked out Starly behind them.

When they got back to where Hikari was still waiting, she was a lot more helpful. In fact she gave them a demonstration of how to catch a Pokémon, her Chimchar allowing her to catch the wild Bidoof they encountered easily. She also gave them another five pokéballs, making Yugi wish he hadn’t spent so much money on them.

Once she was gone, Yugi managed to catch the first Pokémon they ran into. His Pokedex informed him that it was a female Starly and that it was currently level 4. He wasn’t sure what the levels meant in game terms, but since Issui had been gaining levels through battle experience he assumed that his Starly, who he decided to call Kaze, would need training in order to get stronger.

Something weird happened when he tried to catch the next Pokémon to come along though. The pokéballs refused to work. He wasted three, which he picked up after the Bidoof had been defeated, before he finally had to give up. Hikari was watching from the ledge above him and started giggling at him as he searched through the grass for the missing balls.

“You can’t catch any more Pokémon here.” She called down to him, causing him to turn to her, confusion obvious, “It’s a rule the Boss put down. You can only catch the first Pokémon you catch on each route.”

‘That means we can’t go back to the route between here and ‘home’ either.’ Yami huffed.

“No but the forest is still open, we never ran into any Pokémon there.” Yugi reminded him, before looking at Hikari, “Thanks for telling me.”

“No problem.” Hikari replied with a smile, “It’s not a fair game if you don’t know the rules after all. Oh, by the way, don’t forget you have to keep your Pokedex ahead of mine.”

“What?” Yugi asked, confused again.

“You agreed to it, remember?” She asked, “We’re racing to fill the Pokedex. Don’t worry, you don’t have to catch every Pokémon, just seeing them counts, but if I get ahead of you, the Shadows might not like it.” Yugi gulped, having not realised he had been adding to the rules when he had agreed to race her. “Good luck.” She waved and carried on down the route merrily.

‘So we can’t catch more than one Pokémon per route and we have to somehow keep our Pokedex ahead of Hikari’s?’ Yami asked with a growl, taking spirit form to pace through the long grass.

“And we can’t lose a single battle.” Yugi replied, nerves settling in a little as he realised the scope of their task. “We have to get to the Champion and beat him without losing a match.”

‘We’ll do it.’ Yami reassured Yugi, who headed back to the forest they had met the man from Galactic in. ‘It’s just another game. And we never lose, remember?’

“True.” Yugi allowed, the thought cheering him up as he caught their third team member. Another Starly, another female one, this one nicknamed Hane. “And Bakura will sulk for ages when we get out of here.”

Yami grumbled something Yugi didn’t quite catch, but he suspected was along the lines of ‘murder the bloody tomb robber.’ For once the hikari didn’t call his darker half on it. Yami was allowed to be ticked off about this and as long as he was just grumbling, he probably wouldn’t do anything that would get him in trouble.

They got into a little trouble with a Kricketot, the bug Pokémon had absorbed their attacks for a couple of turns before landing a blow that had nearly knocked Issui out. Yugi had had to rush back to the PokeCentre, where Yami skimmed through the Pokedex while they were waiting for Issui to be treated. ‘Bide,’ the move he finally figured out the Kricketot had used against them, absorbed the power of the attacks that they had launched at it and countered with that power.

It was something they were going to have to watch out for in the future if they wanted to get through the game safely.

Isla Del Leyendas: Part 22

Delia Ketchum had her back turned to the TV when the coverage of the legendary battle came on. “We have reporters on the ground and in the air, as the legendary Pokemon that have gathered at Isla De Leyendas have started to batt… we’re going live!”

“I’m here on the scene, in Newcopter 1, and the fight below me has grown even more intense, Lugia and Rayquaza seem to be attempting to disrupt the fighting but it doesn’t look like they’re having much luck. What the? Is that? Maybe Harriet can get a better look, it looks like there are Pokemon Trainers down there!”

Delia wheeled around, Pokemon Trainers?

Thankfully, there was no sign of Ash anywhere.

Then a Pokemon’s roar made everyone stop.

The grounded news reporter showed the Trainers that had been using their Pokemon in an attempt to stop the fighting, had managed to get to the legendary Pokemon, and to the shock of everyone, the legendary Pokemon didn’t attack them, instead they allowed the Trainers to climb aboard or on their backs, or necks. The cameraman zoomed in on the Trainers, and it looked like they were talking to the Pokemon.

Then the camera switched back to the helicopter, who was filming a fight between a adult man and a teen, and a Pokemon that had been in Ash’s storybooks as a child.

The helicopter made a low pass as the teen restrained the adult and the Pokemon prepared an attack.

It was then a teen Delia recognised as Gary Oak emerged.

On the return swoop Delia caught one good look at the fighting teen’s face, before the Hyper Beam attack was loosed and everything faded in an explosion.

Ms. Delia Ketchum, and Professor Samuel Oak were on the next blimp to Isla De Leyendas.

A day later, Misty and Brock joined them.

Two weeks later May and Max had joined them.

It was now four weeks since Ash had been brought into hospital.

And there had been no change in his condition.

Delia Ketchum remembered several times when Ash had gotten himself into danger like this, but not once had Ash ended up in hospital, not once had his Pokemon been left as weak as they had… were they linked, and until Ash recovered, would they not?

“You’re a Pokemon Trainer,” She had once said to him, “And that’s just how it is… but next time, could you try to save the world, just a little closer to home?”

“I guess, I could give it a try.” Ash had replied, and yet this had to be almost the furthest away from home Ash had ever had to save the world, Mrs Ketchum was beginning to feel that fate was out to get her son.

Delia Ketchum was getting a coffee out of the vending machine when May rushed down the corridor, “Mrs Ketchum! Mrs Ketchum!”

“How many times have I asked you to call me Delia?” Delia asked as she turned around, coffee in hand, she took a look at May, “What’s wrong? Has something happened? Is Ash alright?”

“Come see for yourself.”

Mrs Ketchum dropped the coffee and ran after May.

She wasn’t sure what to expect as she walked into the room, where Gary Oak, Brock, Misty and Max were gathered around the bed, which the head of had been raised so the person in it could sit up slightly without any effort. “Guys.” May whispered. Brock and Misty moved aside. And Delia saw something that caused her breath to catch in her throat.

A pair of deep brown eyes looked over to her.

“Oh Ash.” Delia rushed over, hugging her son tightly. She only let go when Ash groaned slightly. “You’re awake.”

“Hey Mum.” Ash whispered, wincing away slightly.

Delia realised he was expecting another ear bashing, like the ones she’d given him after his adventures with Lugia and with the Unknown.

“Oh, Ash, you had me so scared.” Delia sat on his bed, and Ash friends filed out of the door, Brock shut it behind him. “I saw you get hit by Hyper Beam on TV, I got the next blimp out. Professor Oak was talking with all the other Trainers who were there, he’s around the Hospital somewhere. The doctors were afraid you weren’t going to make it.”

“So was I.” Ash admitted, “I didn’t think I could.”

“I’m just glad you’re back.” Delia told her son, this time hugging him carefully. A hug that Ash returned.

There was a knock on the door.

“Come in.” Ash whispered, and then frowned at how weak his voice was.

“Come in.” Delia called for him.

The Doctor came in, “Brock said he’d come round?”

“Hi.” Ash whispered.

“Welcome back to the land of the living, Mr Ketchum, you gave us all a scare. How are you feeling?”

“Not too bad, surprisingly unhurt.”

“Have you told him?” The Doctor asked Mrs Ketchum, she shook her head, “You’ve got very few of the bruises left, a few bones that still need to heal, but a lot of the cuts and bumps that you gained in your time in the time in the Temple have all healed.”

Ash frowned, “How long was I out?”

“You’ve been in hospital a month, Mr Ketchum.”

Ash’s frown deepened, then he looked around, “Where’s Pikachu? And all of my other Pokemon? Are they ok? Are they hurt?” Ash asked in a panic.

“Calm down, your Pokemon are fine. They’ve all been healed and are all resting in their Pokeballs.”

“And Pikachu? Where’s Pikachu?”

“I think Danielle took him down to get something to eat, Pikachu hasn’t left your side, other then to eat, since you came out of surgery.”

Ash bit his lip, “How long ago did they go?”

The Doctor looked at Ash carefully, then smiled and shook his head, “You two really don’t like to be separated do you?” Ash shook his head. There was a happy cheer outside, then the door slipped open and an electric mouse Pokemon walked in.

Pikachu looked around Ash’s room, his Trainer’s mum was here still, and the Doctor was back… He was beginning to hate the white, bland place that was a Pokemon Centre for humans, a Hospital as Gary had called it, but why had he been told to go in? The only person he wanted to see was… Pikachu smiled broadly as he saw that the one he’d been waiting for had woken up…

“Pikapi!” Pikachu shouted, and rushed over and hugged his Trainer, friend and brother tightly.

“Hi Pikachu.” Ash said softly, then leant back against the bed.

“Don’t wear yourself out, Ash.” Delia said, concerned.

“He’ll be fine, Mrs Ketchum, now I want to run some tests. May I speak to him alone, a second?”

Delia nodded, “Come on Pikachu.”

“Pika.” Pikachu shook his head.

“I meant without any other humans in the room.” The doctor said with a smile. Now that Ash was awake, that Pikachu of his was probably never going to leave the room. “You and the others can come back in once I’m done.” Delia looked put out but left, once the door was shut the Doctor turned to Ash with a serious look on his face, “How do you really feel?”

Ash smiled slightly, “Like I got hit by a rolling Golem.”

“I thought you might, how’s your head?”

“Nowhere near as sore as it was before Arceus’s Hyper Beam hit me.”

“Was the head injury gotten in the fight outside the Temple?”

“No, I bashed my head in a fight in the Temple.” Ash told him. The Doctor nodded.

“And your chest?”

“Painful, but no where near as bad as when I passed out.” The doctor nodded again.

“And the rest of your injuries? Not all of them were results of the Hyper Beam, I think.”

Ash shook his head, “I got them fighting with… Kale.” Ash’s sudden snarl made Pikachu look up, “What happened to Kale? The guy who started the whole thing?”

“Kale is dead. He wasn’t as lucky as you.”

“The Hyper Beam killed him?” Ash asked, relaxing slightly.

“Yes. You held him back long enough for Arceus to end the threat.”

“How do you know…?”

“The legendary battle was being shown on TV, everyone who was watching TV at that moment of time saw it.”

Ash sighed, and closed his eyes as the Doctor started the basic tests, “Tired Ash?” The Doctor asked.

“A little.” Ash admitted.

“You’re not to overtax yourself, I don’t want you to end up back in the Emergency Room. If you get too tired, then tell your friends to leave, or to be quiet, and go to sleep, you’re body has been through a lot, Gary Oak told us that you nearly died on the mountain after your first fight with Kale, It should have been impossible for you to be able to restrain Kale as long as you did with the injuries you’d sustained.”

“If it hadn’t been for Arceus, I couldn’t have done, he leant me his strength and blocked the pain, but even that was giving out.” Ash admitted.

“Well, you’re a very lucky Trainer, Ash Ketchum, and now I’ll leave your friends and mother to berate you and get the full story, since no one knows your part, bar you.”

“Iason was there with me, in the first round, and Gary.” Ash said, his eyes opening and shooting towards the Doctor.

“Yes, but they have questions too.” The Doctor said, pushing open the door, Gary slipped back in as the Doctor went out.

“I’ve got a question before the others come in.” Gary said, his eyes showing his confusion, “What did you mean you were ‘on borrowed time anyway’?”

Ash sighed, “Arceus told me that my body was dying, when I saw it after my first fight with Kale, and that I could only come back to fight Kale again, after that, I’d die, and there’d be no coming back. Win or lose, I was going to die, and the strength Arceus had given me, was fading. I figured that I could take Kale down with me… I didn’t expect to ever wake up.”

“That’s why you were so confused when you first came round.” Gary realised, “Arceus told you that you were going to die…” Gary sighed, “Honestly Ashy-boy, you nearly gave my Gramps a heart attack when he saw the fight on TV.”

Ash smiled slightly as Pikachu finally let go of his hospital clothes and Gary let the others into the room.

And with Ash going to recover soon and everything settled I decided for some weird reason that that was a fit place to end it so I could move onto the next book
