Crystal Compass book 1: part 5



Oops, bad Joey. This was not a good day for writing...

She could not really be mad at him. Sam and the other immortals all danced to their own tune. She had known that for a long time. This was just another example of it. She was used to it really. She had been friends with non-humans for as long as she could remember. She had often come here, to Seaview Cottage as a child, back before her grandmother had adopted her from her mother.

Even back then the cottage and its surrounding lands had been a second home to those who walked mostly unseen amongst the mortal masses. Her grandmother had been an aberration too, but for a different reason. Twilight had never lost her belief in the arcane and supernatural while her grandmother had had a face to face encounter that had forced her to reopen her eyes.





Maxine Rodgers had been a stubborn old lady with wirey white hair and brown eyes that seemed to be able to pick out trouble makers a mile away.
